Current status and Tasks of Disaster Psychological Support: Focusing on the Disaster Psychological Recovery Support Center of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security

Abstract
The aim of this study is to explore the current status and tasks of the Disaster Psychological Recovery Support Center, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security'. To this end, data were collected through literature research, surveys, and in-depth interviews. As a result of the analysis, disaster psychology support continues to increase as the scope and targets of disaster psychology support have expanded. However, the Disaster Psychology Recovery Support Center has low disaster psychology support capabilities due to poor manpower and budget. The characteristics of disaster psychological support are that the psychological support method differs depending on the scale of the disaster, psychological first aid is emphasized, early identification of high-risk groups is followed by intensive counseling and refering, and attention is paid to resource linkage and local communities. The difficulty of disaster psychological support is that it lacks the ability to implement psychological first aid and the legal regulation of the primary agency for disaster psychological support is weak. Based on this, institutional and practical suggestions were made.
